The Multi-Original Silk Painting| Jean-Baptiste

The Multi-Original Silk Painting| Jean-Baptiste

A limited-edition multi-original silk painting series simply means that the line artwork created for the template over which the gutta resist is hand traced is used to create more than on painting. the image below shows an example of that line artwork. You can see traces of golden gutta residue on the paper from earlier traced pieces.

Line artwork

This video shows how the gutta is hand-drawn onto the silk and then stretched in a frame where it is hand-painted with Pebeo Setasilk paints using small Sumi bamboo sheep hair brushes.

Multi-original silk paintings are each individually hand-painted making each painting a unique piece. Compare the two paintings below and notice the differences in colours and brushstrokes.
