Painting on silk is fast becoming the medium of choice when working with textiles. In this miniature I am working with 10mm Habotai silk and water based silk paints. The silk is first attached to a line drawing on bleached kraft paper with an artist spray adhesive. With the silk mounted it is now possible to see the lines which indicate the area for adding the water based resist. The resist forms the design on the silk which is then stretched on a frame to be suspended in the air so that the liquid silk paints can be applied using small Chinese Sumi sheep hair brushes.
